Lodging in Grand Canyon National Park and nearby areas
The South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park is located convenient to Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Flagstaff, Arizona. Therefore most visitors come to the South Rim, and reservations are strongly recommended for lodging inside the park or in the nearby town of Tusayan, Arizona.
The more remote North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park is generally accessed from Las Vegas and Page, Arizona. Though there are fewer visitors, there are only one lodge at the North Rim. Therefore reservations are again strongly recommended. The North Rim is open roughly mid-May to mid-October.
Inner Canyon (Bottom of the Grand Canyon)
- The Phantom Ranch offers cabins for visitors taking mule trips. Its bunkhouses are available to hikers. Breakfasts and dinners (expensive) are available by reservation. For reservations and information, contact

Grand Canyon, South Rim Lodging (Grand Canyon Village)
Grand Canyon Village offers a variety of lodging ranging from inexpensive, rustic cabins to a classic hotel setting at the famed El Tovar Hotel. All lodging must be reserved well in advance. There is ample food service ranging from the elegant El Tovar Dining Room to cafeterias to food markets. For reservations and information, contact
Grand Canyon Lodges, the park concessionaire. Below is a brief description of each facility.
- El Tovar Hotel. Premiere lodging at Grand Canyon opend in 1905 and was renovated in 2005. Features standard rooms, deluxe rooms, and suites. Also, features an outstanding dining with picture windows overlooking the canyon. Expensive.
- Bright Angel Lodge and Cabins. Classic lodge with modest accomodations and family-style restaurant. Lodges rooms are inexpensive, cabins inexpensive to moderate.
- Kachina Lodge. Contemporary motel-style rooms suitable for families. Some canyon views. Moderate.
- Thunderbird Lodge. Contemporary motel-style rooms suitable for families. Some canyon views. Moderate.
- Maswik Lodge. Modern facility is located in the pine forest 1/4 mile from the canyon rim. Also, some rustic cabins. Cafeteria and sports bar. Inexpensive to moderate.
- Yavapai Lodge. Large, modern facility is located in the pine forest 1/2 mile from the canyon rim. Also, some rustic cabins. Cafe and market plaza adjacent. Moderate.
Grand Canyon, North Rim Lodging
- North Rim: The only available lodging is at
Grand Canyon Lodge. The lodge has motel rooms and several types of rustic cabins, some with canyon views. Lodging must be reserved well in advance. Pricing moderate. The dining room is open for all meals and has picture windows with canyon views. Also, the new Grand Cookout Experience under the stars. Dinner reservations are recommended. There is also a snack bar - deli open all day.
- Kaibab National Forest: Located 18 miles north of the rim, the
Kaibab Lodge offers rooms in rustic cabin-style buildings. The main lodge building has a restaurant serving three meals, a lounge with bar, phones, and satellite TV. Pricing inexpensive to moderate. Pets accepted. Country store across highway has gas and supplies. Nice lodge in a very pleasant area.
- Jacob Lake: Located 45 miles north of the rim, the
Jacob Lake Inn offers rustic cabins and about eight motel-style rooms. Inn has a restaurant serving three meals, bakery, country store, and gas station. Pricing inexpensive to moderate. Interagency visitor center is adjacent.
